Florida City is the southernmost city in Miami-Dade — the last stop before the Keys, and a small community that most county-wide companies quietly skip. It is a long way from most garage door shops, which is precisely why it is worth saying plainly that we come here.
Florida City is compact, sitting immediately south of Homestead along Krome Avenue and Palm Drive either side of US-1. It is the southern terminus of our service area. The older housing here has garages with hardware that has genuinely been left alone for a long time, often because getting a company to come out has been difficult. That shows up as doors well past the point where routine maintenance would have helped, and as improvised repairs that somebody local made work at the time. The newer development along the Homestead edge is conventional modern stock with rated doors and matched hardware, and it presents no surprises at all.
On the older stock: springs long past their cycle life and often mismatched to the door, worn track that has been bent and never straightened, rusted bottom brackets, and openers old enough to lack photo-eye sensors. On the newer stock: ordinary consumable wear — springs, rollers, hinges, cables, belts. Marine corrosion is not the driver this far inland; it is time, use and deferred maintenance.
Florida City rides on our Homestead runs, which is how we keep it practical. We carry both light and heavier spring stock plus track sections, because on the older doors a bent track section is a real possibility and we would rather fix it than come back.
