Hollywood Lakes and Historic Hollywood are the standouts — Joseph Young’s 1920s development left a grid of Mediterranean Revival houses with narrow, low, sometimes detached garages, many now carrying sectional doors retrofitted into openings never designed for them. Beachside, the doors are newer but sitting in the worst salt exposure in Broward. West of I-95 it becomes ordinary suburbia: sixteen-foot two-car doors, torsion springs, ceiling openers, much like Pembroke Pines.
