Southwest Ranches is rural by design — acre-and-up lots, long driveways, horses, and outbuildings. The garage doors here are the largest residential doors we work on: RV bays, workshop doors, multi-bay detached garages. Very little of it is a standard sixteen-by-seven.
The town covers a large area of low-density acreage between Weston, Davie and Pembroke Pines, laid out along Griffin, Stirling, Sheridan and the trails between them. Lots are an acre or more, buildings are set well back, and many properties have more than one structure with a door on it. It is the western end of our Broward coverage and we work it alongside Weston and west Davie.
Streets and areas: The acreage lots off Griffin Road, Stirling Road, Sheridan Street and Holatee Trail, and the properties bordering Weston and Davie.
Large single-family homes on acreage, very frequently with oversized garages, separate workshops, RV bays and barns — often several doors on one property.
This is the most non-standard door stock in our service area. Twelve and fourteen-foot-high RV openings, wide workshop doors, three and four-bay detached garages, and doors on agricultural buildings. Weight and span are the governing variables: a large door needs springs calculated to its actual weight, heavier gauge track, double end bearing plates, struts across the sections, and an opener with the torque to move it. Many were specified by whoever put the building up rather than by a door specialist, and it shows.
Undersized springs are the recurring root cause — a door that was never properly balanced wears out its own bearings, cables and opener continuously. Beyond that: end bearing plates worn so the torsion tube wanders, cables jumping the drums when the sides go out of sync, sagging top sections on wide spans, and openers burning out because they were never rated for the load. On detached and agricultural buildings, damp, dust and rodent damage to wiring are ordinary findings. Well-water irrigation corrodes bottom seals and brackets noticeably out here.
We confirm the opening width and height, the number of doors and whether the building has power before we dispatch a Southwest Ranches call. On oversized doors that is not bureaucracy — it determines the spring wire, the cable length and whether we need hardware that is not standard stock.
On a large door we measure and weigh rather than working from a chart, and we will tell you plainly when the existing specification was wrong from the start. If you have several doors on the property it is usually worth doing them in one visit, and we will report on each separately so you can see where each one stands. Free 25-point inspection per door, written findings, and one agreed price before work begins.
Full new-door installation is not on the menu. Florida treats hanging a new door as a specialty license. We repair the door you have.
A lot of garage door companies win the job with a cheap phone quote, then make their money back two ways: bargain parts and fees you only see at the end. Unbranded springs that wear out in a few years, low-grade rollers and cables, and a final invoice padded with "service charges" and extra parts that were never in the original number.
That is the standard on every job we do in Southwest Ranches.
We also dispatch to Weston, Davie, Cooper City. We cover every city in Miami-Dade and Broward the same way — same-day where the schedule allows, free 25-point inspection, locked-in price. See the full service area →
