It depends on a lot of factors. Springs are rated in cycles, not years — one cycle is the door opening and closing once — so how often you use your door matters more than how old it is. A standard spring is typically rated for around 10,000 cycles, so a door used a few times a day will wear out its springs much sooner than one used once a day.
Other factors play a role in how long every part of your garage door lasts. New rollers and a clean track reduce resistance, so the springs and opener don't have to work as hard. And making sure the springs are properly balancing the door extends the life of your opener — an out-of-balance door forces the motor to lift weight it was never meant to carry. We check all of this during our free 25-point inspection.
